Cleaning drains is much easier now for this top university maintenance crew because they rely on Super Concentrated Drain Punch Non Acid liquid drain cleaner. It started last summer when I met with the Engineering Department staff at a major university in town. Like most large universities and colleges they have to deal with clogged drains from the dorms to the kitchen all the time.
A snake had become their tool of choice because the sulphuric acid they used in the past smelled so awful that the buildings had to be cleared, and they had tried other Non Acid drain cleaners before that never worked. There was even a pallet stacked with a competitor’s non acid drain cleaning product in the warehouse gathering dust.
Like many of you, they also have to be especially careful not to damage the pipes in older buildings. Odorless Drain Punch will not harm pipes, even old cast iron pipes.
You should have seen the maintenance crew‘s reaction when I said I had a non acid drain cleaner that would clean their clogged and slow running drains! They laughed and rolled their eyes at the the idea of Drain Punch doing the work for them. They thought they had seen it all… I explained that Drain Punch truly is different. It has the highest concentration of sodium hydroxide in any liquid non acid drain cleaner on the market and Drain Punch delivers a powerful industry leading 48%-52% sodium hydroxide solution to your clogs compared to only 5%-15% of most competitors. This is why it works so much better.
After seeing the hair and soap demo and watching the chicken fat demo plus hearing how successful it is in lots of other facilities around town they agreed to give it a try. Now for the rest of their story.
To their total surprise during the first month Drain Punch cleared clogs all over the campus; bathroom sinks and shower drains flowed freely again. The hair and soap at the traps liquified and flushed out easily. Grease and food clogs in the kitchen were also cleaned out by simply pouring it in and rinsing with water after 30 minutes or so. Since Drain Punch is odorless there is no disruption to students as opposed to the need to move people when using a smelly sulphuric acid drain cleaner.
Another area I suggested they try Drain Punch was in the A/C condensation lines. It performed flawlessly because algae buildup in these small and sometimes hidden lines inside walls is like melting butter for Drain Punch. Cleaning A/C condensation lines with Drain Punch is also more thorough and complete than using compressed air. Compressed air will usually blow a hole just big enough for air to flow but it may leave most of the clog in place causing a recurring problem.
In the cafeteria area there was an extreme situation with a clog caused by coffee grounds. They knew this because the snake they had used would pull out some of the grounds. That helped temporarily but over time the grounds created a clog further down in the pipe. No problem, Drain Punch flows through standing water down to the clog no matter how far away. This being a tough clog over 25 feet away they faced the possibility of having to dig up and replace lines outside of the building. No doubt a very expensive and time consuming proposition. Onc they poured Drain Punch in coffee ground particles floated up from the drain so they knew it was working but after an hour the water was still backed up. Now what? They figured pouring in some more might work, but then they had an ingenious idea. With a shop vac they sucked out all the water and loosened coffee grounds particles from the drain before adding another dose. After a short while the water was turned on and the clog was gone! Using a couple bottles of Drain Punch saved the men lots of time and hard work and the university a ton of money. Now that drain is treated regularly as preventive maintenance.
Speaking of preventive maintenance, an outside mechanical contractor currently charges $5,000.00 per year per building to do an annual preventive maintenance on each building’s drains using commercial snakes.. We figured out that on average for the number of sinks, tubs and floor drains in each building, applying Drain Punch quarterly would only be $1,200.00 per year! Every time it’s used Drain Punch saves maintenance staff time, frees up valuable manhours and drastically improves the bottom line by saving on hardcosts too.
If this example sounds familiar to maintenance problems you face give me a call to discuss or try a case and see for yourself.
